Co-sponsored with the PIIRS Luce Project on Migration, Participation, and Democratic Governance in the U.S., Europe, and the Muslim World Patrick Weil is Senior Research Fellow at the CNRS, Université de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Professor at the Paris School of Economics and at the Ecole normale supérieure, Paris. He has served on the Governmental Advisory Council on Integration (Haut Conseil à l’Integration), was President of the interministerial group on Immigration Statistics, and Member of the Presidential Commission created by President Jacques Chirac on the ‘Implementation of the principle of Secularism within the French Republic. Weil has authored many books, including most recently How to be French, Nationality in the Making since 1789 (Duke University Press, 2009).
