Dr Annie Niessen is a postdoctoral researcher (B.A.E.F. fellow) at the University of Pennsylvania, United States. She holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences—for which she was additionally granted the title of Doctor Europaeus—and an MA in Communication from the University of Liège, Belgium. She was a visiting fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and the Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe in Lausanne, Switzerland. She was a guest lecturer at the University of Amsterdam and Sofia University, Bulgaria. She received several prizes and grants for her research.
