
Dr. Alexis Antoniades is a Fellow at the Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance at Princeton University and an Assistant Professor of Economics at Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar. Antoniades does research on monetary unions and on international macroeconomics. In addition, he is an expert on the economies of the Gulf countries. Funded by a three year grant by the Qatar National Research Fund, Dr. Antoniades has undertaken the first micro-study on these economies. The study is based on a massive dataset of scanner-level (barcode) price and quantity data for 80% of the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods sold across thousand of outlets in all the Gulf countries between 2006 and 2011. A Fulbright/CASP Scholar, Dr. Antoniades holds a PhD in Economics from Columbia University. Between 2001 and 2002 he served as an Assistant Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
