Bio/Description

George Bermann teaches and writes widely in the fields sof EU law, comparative law, international litigation and arbitration, and WTO law. Among his recent books are Trade and Human Health and Safety (with Mavroidis), Law and Governance in an Enlarged European union (with Pistor); Cases and Materials on European Union Law (with Davey, Fox & Goebel); and Transatlantiuc Regulatory Cooperation (with Herdegen & Lindseth). In addition to his position at Columbia, Bermann is also a member of the faculty of the College d'Europe (Bruges) and of the DESS program in International Business Law of the University of Paris I and the Institut des Sciences Politiques (Paris). A BA and JD graduate of Yale and Marshall Scholar, George Bermann He is immediate past president of the American Society of Comparative Law and co-editor-in-chief of the Society's chief publication, the American Journal of Comparative Law, as well as founder and chair of the exceutive editorial board of the Columbia Journal of European Law. Professor Bermann frequently serves as international arbitrator and as expert on foreign law to US courts and to US and foreign counsel.
